Rustic Barn Weddings in Sussex, Kent & Beyond

Rustic barns are some of my favourite places to photograph weddings. They’re full of character… beams, stone walls, fairy lights, and countryside backdrops. Over the years I’ve photographed weddings at barns across Sussex, Kent, and further afield, each with its own charm. Here are just some of the incredible rustic barn venues I’ve worked at.

“Candid, joyful and full of love.”

“We didn’t want stiff, posed wedding photos — we just wanted to have fun and enjoy the day, and Dale absolutely nailed it. He captured all the emotion and laughter without ever intruding; so many guests said they hadn’t even realised he was there! A genuinely lovely guy who clearly loves what he does.”

Why are barn weddings so popular in Sussex and Kent?

Barns are timeless. They offer that perfect mix of countryside charm, warm lighting, and space for relaxed celebrations. Sussex and Kent are full of restored barns that mix rustic character with modern touches — ideal for laid-back couples.

What makes a rustic barn wedding unique?

It’s all about atmosphere — wooden beams, open space, twinkly lights, and a slower pace. Barn weddings photograph beautifully because they’re real, textured, and full of natural light and emotion.

Do you photograph weddings at Montague Farm or The Cherry Barn?

Yes, often! Both are favourites — Montague Farm has epic fields and sunsets, while The Cherry Barn is intimate with stunning views. My style fits perfectly with these settings.

What’s the best season for a barn wedding?

Spring and autumn — soft light, golden tones, and cooler temperatures. But barns work year-round thanks to their flexibility — I’ve shot winter barn weddings that felt like a candlelit film set.
