The Gallivant Wedding Photographer Rye | Harriet & Matt
Harriet and Matt got married at The Gallivant in December — 48 guests, a 12-year-old pug called Sid, a surprise speech, and a loose theme of 70s luxe disco. Intimate, considered, and completely their own kind of day.
Getting Ready
Sid was there for the getting ready. That tells you everything you need to know about Harriet and Matt — the dog is part of the day, not an afterthought. Hair by Kate Hero, dress by Odylyne the Ceremony, a cake based on Harriet’s mum’s wedding cake made by Heart of Cake London. The details were personal and specific in the way that only happens when a couple has actually thought about what matters to them.

The Ceremony
The legal part had already been taken care of — which meant the ceremony at The Gallivant was entirely theirs. Harriet’s friend Elliot walked her down the aisle, Ant Kent led the ceremony, and at some point Harriet stood up and gave a surprise speech that nobody saw coming. December at The Gallivant means candlelit rooms, soft winter light, and guests close together in the best possible way. Forty-eight people who were, in Harriet’s words, quite a wild bunch.

The Gallivant in December
The Gallivant sits just outside Rye, tucked between the marshes and the dunes, a few minutes from Camber Sands. In December it becomes something particular — fires lit, warm interiors, the kind of atmosphere that suits a 70s luxe disco theme better than you might expect. The muted palette of the venue and the candlelight gave everything a richness that summer light doesn’t quite replicate.

The Evening
The dancefloor. Menus by Forensics and Flowers, florals by Star and the Rose, a cake that made Harriet cry because of what it meant. The wild bunch delivered on the dancefloor, and the Studio 54 energy Harriet had wanted from the start was exactly what the evening became.

“A dream come true.“
“We did not hesitate in booking Dale and it was the best decision ever. His photos are so natural, emotive and timeless — he even went above and beyond capturing Studio 54 style black and white images of our guests partying the night away. Forever favourites. Dale, we are forever grateful — thank you for being another friend at our wedding.”
