Hackney Town Hall Wedding Photographer

I’m Dale, a documentary wedding photographer based in East Sussex, and I’ve photographed weddings at Hackney Town Hall for years. Some couples marry in the morning and have the party across town, some go straight to a pub round the corner, and some hire a vintage bus to get there.
No stiff poses, no awkward lineups. Just your day, documented as it happens, from the nerves on Mare Street to the dancefloor at the end.

What makes Hackney Town Hall weddings special?

THE ROOMS
Hackney Town Hall is a mid-century building with real presence. Upstairs is the big panelled room, long and low-lit, reached by white marble staircases under art deco lighting. Downstairs, a giant copper wall anchors an atrium wrapped in windows, so the light pours in. You can hold the ceremony and the drinks reception right there.

THE ARRIVAL
It’s an easy building to arrive at. Buses can wait out front, taxis pull up at the side, and the tropical trees outside make a better backdrop than most venues manage. Pubs and restaurants line the road in both directions, so the party can start before anyone has got in a car.

Weddings at Hackney Town Hall

Different couples, different parties, the same building at the start of the day.

Hackney Town Hall to Coin Laundry

Ella and Sam married at Hackney Town Hall, then took the party across town to Coin Laundry.

  • A Town Hall ceremony with the day’s real emotion in it
  • A reception in Exmouth Market, with its own restaurant energy
  • Candid moments all the way through, from the steps to the last song

Hackney Town Hall to The Depot N7

Letty and Aarun married in Hackney first, then took a vintage red bus across to Islington for the party.

  • The bride and groom hanging off the back of the bus
  • Warehouse windows at The Depot N7, with light that suits candid portraits
  • A packed dancefloor, including the bride dancing with her grandparent

Hackney Town Hall to Royal Inn on the Park

A Hackney ceremony, then on to the Royal Inn on the Park on the edge of Victoria Park for the party.

  • A ceremony in a building with real character
  • Confetti and congratulations outside on Mare Street
  • A relaxed day documented from start to finish

Hackney Town Hall to Clapton Country Club

Industrial, eclectic and full of personality. Exposed brick, lush greenery, and one of the most energetic dance floors I’ve photographed.

  • A bus journey with the whole wedding party aboard
  • A ceremony in Hackney, then a party in Clapton
  • A day that moves, which is the easiest kind to photograph candidly

How to Choose a Hackney Wedding Photographer

Most Hackney weddings don’t stay in one place. You might marry at the Town Hall, take a bus to Clapton, and end the night in a railway arch. The right photographer has to follow the day, not stage it.
Look for someone who has photographed the building before and knows how the light changes between the copper-walled atrium and the panelled room upstairs. Ask to see full galleries, not just highlights, so you can see how a whole day looks.
I don’t move people around or set moments up. I stay close to what’s happening, keep moving with the day, and look for the images that tell its real story.

Got Questions?

If you have questions that aren’t answered here, just ask – I’m always happy to chat things through.

Yes. The ground-floor atrium, with its copper wall and big windows, works for both. There’s also the long panelled room upstairs.

The atrium is bright and glassy, so it suits candid portraits. The panelled room upstairs is warmer and more moody, with art deco lighting.

Most are. I’ve followed couples from the Town Hall to Coin Laundry, The Depot N7 and Clapton Country Club, and I’m happy to travel with you between venues.

Buses can wait out front, and taxis can drop off at the side. Pubs and restaurants nearby make it easy for guests to gather first.

Letty + Aarun

“Captured every moment perfectly.“

“Our wedding photos are more than we could have ever wanted — Dale literally captured every moment. His communication was top notch from the moment we booked, and he completely understood what we were after. So relaxed, blended right in with the day, and worked brilliantly with our videographers. We’ll be forever grateful.”
