South East London Wedding Photographer
I’m Dale, a documentary wedding photographer based in East Sussex, shooting weddings across South East London for years — from Southwark Registry Office and Camberwell Arms to Greenwich Yacht Club and Asylum Chapel in Peckham.
No stiff poses, no awkward lineups. Just your day, documented honestly as it happens — the nerves before the ceremony, the chaos of the dancefloor, and all the in-between moments that make your wedding yours.
What makes South East London weddings special?
THE VARIETY
South East London packs a lot into a few miles: registry office ceremonies in Southwark, a pub restaurant with a light-filled private dining room in Camberwell, a deconsecrated chapel with peeling paint and stained glass in Peckham, and the Thames at Greenwich with the skyline across the water. Couples choose it because they want somewhere with character that doesn’t need over-styling.
THE ENERGY
The best South East London weddings are walkable and relaxed. A short stroll from the registry office to the pub. Portraits in Peckham’s backstreets and market. Golden-hour light by the river at Greenwich. The city carries on around you, and the photos are better for it.
Weddings across South East London
Different venues, different couples, different days — but the same city doing its thing around all of them.
Camberwell Arms
An award-winning South London pub restaurant in the heart of Camberwell, with a light-filled private dining room upstairs and some of the best food you’ll eat at any wedding. Both weddings I’ve shot here paired it with a ceremony at Southwark Registry Office, a short walk away.
Greenwich Yacht Club
Not every London wedding is set against brick walls and city streets. Greenwich Yacht Club sits right on the Thames with views across London that feel genuinely surprising, calm water on one side and the skyline on the other. Nathan and Jess came here after a ceremony at a church in Greenwich.
Southwark Registry Office to Camberwell Arms
Georgia and Josh were the first couple I photographed at Camberwell Arms. They married at Southwark Registry Office, stopped for a portrait under the Love Walk sign, then kept lunch small and intimate in the private room upstairs.
Asylum Chapel
One of the most atmospheric wedding venues in London. Raw textures, peeling paint and original stained-glass windows give it a cinematic, moody feel that’s unlike anywhere else. Couples often spend an hour or two at the chapel before the day heads off in all directions, so each of my Asylum Chapel weddings ends up somewhere completely different.
How to Choose a Wedding Photographer in South East London
South East London weddings have a particular energy: the city is always doing something around you, and the best documentary photography leans into that rather than trying to shut it out. I don’t move people around or set moments up. I stay close to what’s happening, keep moving, and look for the images that tell the real story of the day. The result is a gallery that feels lived-in, candid, colourful, and genuinely yours.
