Town Hall Wedding Photographer | The George in Rye

I’m Dale, a documentary wedding photographer based in East Sussex. Ross and Georgina married at Rye Town Hall on a Sunday in early October – the first Town Hall ceremony I’ve shot at The George, confetti and a town crier leading the parade back down the street. Exclusive hire meant the whole place was theirs: no restaurant guests, no hotel comings and goings, just their family and friends for the day.

This was a day built by the couple’s own people. Flowers, styling, even the suit – all made or arranged by friends, with Boelle Events pulling the look together. I spent part of the afternoon in the green room with Ross before his first look with Georgina, just talking about kids while he sat on the sofas – some of my favourite frames of the day came out of doing nothing more than that.

A Town Crier and a Confetti Parade

Rye Town Hall, a short walk from The George, then straight into confetti the moment they stepped outside – a town crier leading the procession back down the street, guests trailing behind. It’s a different rhythm to a church wedding, louder and more public, and it suited them.

Ross, Before the First Look

Before Ross saw Georgina, I spent some time with him in the green room – not posed, just sat on the sofas talking about his kids while the room filled up around him. Some of the best photographs of a wedding happen when nobody’s being asked to do anything at all.

A Sun-Trap Courtyard

The courtyard caught the afternoon sun properly – a friend on DJ duties, champagne going round, and the kids finding every bit of shade to disappear into with a games console. Exclusive hire meant the whole space was theirs for the afternoon, nobody passing through.

Dinner, and the Dragon Bar

Dinner in the main restaurant, the kids tucked away in the Dragon Bar nearby — close enough to come and go, far enough that the grown-ups got their evening too.

Upstairs to the Ballroom

Cocktails and dancing in the Ballroom to close out the night — the same room that’s hosted everything from first looks to all-night parties for other George couples, and every time it finds a different gear.
