Laid-Back East London Wedding

LAID BACK EAST LONDON WEDDINGS

East London is made for couples who want something a little different. From art-filled studios and riverside clubs to historic town halls and cosy pub gardens, the area’s full of creative, character-filled venues.

As an East London wedding photographer, I’ve captured everything from candlelit ceremonies at Hackney Town Hall to wild dance floors at Clapton Country Club, relaxed pints at Royal Inn on the Park, and riverside portraits at Greenwich Yacht Club.

This guide brings together real East London weddings — full of colour, music, and modern love stories.

This guide pulls together some of my favourite East London weddings. Real stories and photos that show just how much character these venues bring. Scroll down to explore the spaces and see how couples made them their own.

A bride and groom walk down stone steps outside Hackney Town Hall, smiling and holding hands, as friends and family cheer and throw confetti. The bride holds a colorful bouquet and wears a white dress; the groom wears a dark suit.

Urban energy meets romance

There’s something magical about the mix of city grit and heartfelt celebration. Hackney Town Hall is a perfect example because it mixes everyday city life with big, joyful moments. Confetti flies on the steps while buses and cyclists roll past.

After the ceremony, couples slip into nearby pubs or wander through Hackney’s streets for portraits that feel alive with energy. It’s that blend of civic grandeur and everyday London that makes East London weddings authentic and unpolished.

A large, white, three-story building with arched windows houses a lively outdoor pub the Royal inn on the pakr near Hackney Town Hall. People sit at tables under clear blue skies, bicycles line the fence, and trees surround this inviting East London spot.

Relaxed and unpolished

If your idea of a perfect wedding day involves pints in the sunshine and kids running around outside, venues like the Royal Inn on the Park nail it. Right on the edge of Victoria Park, it’s as much about community and atmosphere as it is about the wedding itself. Couples spill out into the garden, friends grab drinks at the bar, and the day flows effortlessly without feeling staged. It’s London at its most laid-back.

A long, elegant dining table is set with flowers and glassware in a rustic, plant-filled room at Clapton Country Club. Heart-shaped balloons and a chandelier create a festive, cozy atmosphere perfect for an East London wedding.

Industrial and eclectic

East London also thrives on creativity and character. Venues like Clapton Country Club or The Roost bring together exposed brick, quirky details, and a sense of history. In fact, venues like these don’t need much dressing up, since they already ooze personality. Then, once the dance floor fills, you’re in the middle of a celebration that feels unmistakably East London.

Riverside views at Greenwich Yacht Club

Not every East London wedding is set against brick walls and city streets — sometimes the Thames takes centre stage. Greenwich Yacht Club is one of those venues that feels like a hidden gem. Tucked right on the river with incredible views across London. It has the calm of the water on one side and the buzz of the city on the other… Which makes it perfect for couples who want something unique without leaving town.

I photographed Nathan & Jess’s wedding here. It had everything from golden-hour portraits by the water to a packed dance floor inside the clubhouse. It’s the kind of place that reminds you just how varied East London weddings can be. Relaxed, stylish, and full of character.

From parks to arches… Clissold Park & Paradise Row

One of my favourite things about East London weddings is how easily couples mix settings to create a day that feels completely their own. Chloe & Jack started with their ceremony in Clissold Park, a slice of calm green right in the middle of Hackney, before heading to Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green to get ready. Later, the celebrations moved to Sager & Wilde on Paradise Row. A wine bar tucked under the railway arches, full of atmosphere once the sun went down.
