A Hastings Wedding with Coastal Charm

FROM LA TO SAN DIEGO, SANTA BARBARA & BEYOND…

From Hastings Old Town to The Cove in Fairlight

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that mixes seaside grit with countryside charm – something stylish, relaxed, and totally unpretentious – Hastings is hard to beat.

This wedding was everything I love about local celebrations. The couple got ready in Hastings Old Town (those crooked buildings and cobbled streets are a dream to photograph), then tied the knot at Hastings Town Hall before taking a detour through some of the town’s most iconic spots – and finishing up at one of the area’s best hidden gems: The Cove in Fairlight.

Getting Ready in Hastings Old Town

Hastings Old Town is full of character – quirky cottages, painted doors, weathered textures – all of which make for really special pre-ceremony photos. It’s the kind of place where nothing needs to be staged; every corner tells a story.
We took a calm, documentary-style approach to capturing the getting ready moments: makeup by the big front windows, kids running around the hallway, final details pulled together just before stepping into the car.

Hastings Town Hall Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Hastings Town Hall – a grand, light-filled space in the heart of town. It’s a brilliant option for couples who want a no-fuss civil ceremony that still feels significant and stylish. There’s just enough ceremony to make it official, without losing the relaxed vibe that defines a coastal wedding day.

A Quick Stop at Rock-a-Nore for Portraits

After the ceremony, we made time for a quick detour down to the fishing huts at Rock-a-Nore. It’s such an iconic part of Hastings – the tall black net sheds, shingle underfoot, seagulls in the background. If you’re into editorial-style portraits that still feel totally “you”, this is the spot.

These little in-between journeys – down the seafront, over the cliffs – always add so much narrative to the gallery. They’re the breath between the formalities and the party.

The Cove, Fairlight: The Perfect Reception Venue Near Hastings

The evening unfolded at The Cove in Fairlight, a proper country pub just outside town with some of the best food and hospitality in the area. Think: unfussy but beautifully done, with countryside views, cold beers, and genuinely warm service. If you’re looking for a wedding venue near Hastings that’s not a traditional hotel or barn, The Cove is a brilliant choice.

This couple wanted the kind of celebration where the food is great, the kids can run free, and the speeches happen with a pint in hand. The Cove delivered all that and more.

Why Hastings Is a Great Place to Get Married

Weddings in Hastings have this perfect mix of seaside, town, and countryside – all within a 10-minute drive. You can wake up by the sea, marry in the town, get windswept on the cliffs, and dance in a village pub by sunset.
If you’re planning a wedding in Hastings, want relaxed, natural photos, and care more about real moments than posed ones, I’d love to hear from you.
