Pelham House in Lewes is one of those venues that just feels right from the moment you step inside. Elegant but unpretentious, modern but full of history — it’s everything you want from a Sussex wedding venue. Set right in the centre of Lewes, this Georgian townhouse has been lovingly restored with calm, contemporary interiors and beautiful outdoor spaces that make it ideal for relaxed, modern celebrations.
Over the past few years, I’ve photographed several weddings here — each one completely different, but all sharing that same sense of calm and intimacy that Pelham House does so well. The Setting
Pelham House overlooks the rolling South Downs and has that perfect balance of town and countryside. You can walk straight from the ceremony into the garden for drinks under the sun, with views that stretch beyond the walls of the house.
The ceremony room fills with soft natural light (which photographers love), and the Georgian architecture means there’s character everywhere you turn. Big sash windows, elegant staircases, warm textures, and that timeless Sussex light filtering through the rooms.

One of the best things about Pelham House is how easy it feels for couples and guests. Everything flows in one place — from getting ready upstairs to the ceremony, reception, and party later on.

Spring and summer weddings here have their own rhythm. That kind of soft, golden light bouncing off the old brick walls, the garden in full bloom… Guests lounging on the lawn, kids playing, the buzz of Lewes in the background.
