Getting Ready in an airbnb

Getting ready at an Airbnb a few minutes from the venue, which is the sensible way to do it when you’ve got family arriving from further afield than Sussex.

Arrival and Ceremony

Everyone gathered outside the school hall first, which is one of the better things about this venue – you get a proper arrival rather than people filing in one at a time and sitting in silence. Such a grand entrance yet so low key at the same time to ease into the day.

Cocktails and canapes on the lawn

Battle Abbey has a couple of areas either side of the school for chilling with your guests. Both are really close to the abbey and cloisters so you don’t have to go far for photos.

Speeches and food in the Duke’s Library

The library is the room that makes people stop in the doorway. Dark wood, tall windows, the kind of place where speeches sound better than they have any right to.

Make it your own

Jason and Elizabeth had their legal ceremony in the hall, but then later on, had a second Sri Lankan ceremony – followed by a piñata gender reveal and ended the evening with Greek dancing. I captured it all of course!
