The Bell in Ticehurst Weddings | Venue Guide + Real Stories
I’m Dale, a documentary wedding photographer based in East Sussex. The Bell in Ticehurst is one of my most-photographed venues — I’ve shot more weddings here than anywhere else in Sussex, and I got married here myself. I know it better than any photographer you’ll find.
No stiff poses, no awkward lineups. The Bell attracts couples who want something warm and relaxed rather than formal and rigid — which is exactly when documentary photography works at its best. I stay close to what’s happening and let the day tell its own story.
What makes The Bell in Ticehurst weddings special?
The personal angle
I know The Bell better than most — I got married here myself. Since then I’ve photographed more weddings at this venue than anywhere else in Sussex, and every single one has felt completely different. That’s the thing about The Bell: it has enough character to carry any kind of day, but never competes with the couple having it.
What it’s like to shoot here
Candlelit ceremonies in the Ballroom, drinks spilling into the garden, golden hour in the fields, and dancefloors that don’t stop until the curfew. I know the light in every room, the best spots for portraits, and exactly when to move and when to stay still. If you’re planning a wedding here, you’re in good hands.
Why Couples Love The Bell in Ticehurst
The Bell isn’t your typical country wedding venue. It has a lived-in charm that makes guests feel at home straight away. Some highlights:
The Ballroom — perfect for candlelit ceremonies.
The Garden — relaxed drinks, festoon lights, and big summer vibes.
The Pub Spaces — banquet tables in the Stable, quirky décor, roaring fires.
On-site Rooms — boutique bedrooms for couples + guests.
It’s the kind of place where you can have a big, boisterous party… or keep things small and cosy.

Kieran + Jemma
“I’m not convinced Dale isn’t a ghost.“
“I hardly saw him during our big day and yet the pictures we received are absolute perfection. He captured all of our friends and family having fun at their leisure — and that is precisely what we wanted. Dale is a lovely person and made us feel so at ease. 100 per cent recommend. You won’t regret it.”
