LGBTQ Wedding at The George in Rye

Two brides in white dresses and holding bouquets stand close together, sharing a kiss on a cobblestone street lined with old buildings, creating a romantic and joyful wedding scene.

LGBTQ Wedding at The George in Rye

Frances and Gayleen’s wedding at The George in Rye was everything I love about modern celebrations — intimate, stylish, and full of unapologetic joy. Set in the heart of Rye on a crisp December afternoon, their day brought together warmth, laughter, and the kind of energy that only happens when people truly let go and be themselves.

From elegant candlelit vows to a full-blown La Hora Loca party, this LGBTQ celebration was proof that winter weddings can be every bit as colourful and alive as any summer festival.

The George in Rye in Winter

The George in Rye has a way of feeling both timeless and modern. Its warm interiors, moody lighting and cosy Georgian charm were perfect for a December wedding. Frances and Gayleen used that atmosphere beautifully — mixing elegant florals, deep tones, and flickering candlelight to create something intimate and cinematic.

Outside, the cobbled streets of Rye gave us the perfect backdrop for portraits — soft winter light, old brick, and just enough chill in the air to keep everyone close.

A Celebration of Love and Identity

What made this wedding stand out wasn’t just how beautiful it looked — it was how personal it felt. Frances and Gayleen designed every part of the day to reflect them: from the relaxed ceremony to the joyful, inclusive energy that ran through the evening.

As a photographer, it was one of those weddings where every frame told a story of connection — real moments, honest emotion, and pride in being completely themselves.

La Hora Loca — When the Party Took Off

As the sun went down, things quickly took a wild turn — and in the best way. Soon after, out came the props, and the elegant Georgian ballroom transformed into a full-blown La Hora Loca, complete with masks, glow sticks, and confetti everywhere.

From there, it was chaos in the best sense — colour, movement, people laughing so hard they cried. That sudden shift, from quiet ceremony to unfiltered joy, is exactly why I love wedding photography. Ultimately, it’s human. It’s unpredictable. And most importantly, it’s real.

LGBTQ Weddings at The George in Rye

The George is one of those venues that just gets it — it’s inclusive, welcoming, and beautiful without ever feeling stuffy.
In addition, it’s a space that truly celebrates individuality. As a result, it naturally attracts couples who want their day to feel authentic and full of character. Therefore, whether you’re planning a destination elopement, a UK celebration, or a queer love story that breaks tradition, Rye becomes one of the best places to do it.

Finally, if you’re an LGBTQ couple planning your wedding in Rye, I’d love to show you how I capture that energy — the connection, the humour, the emotion — all without ever asking you to pose or perform.

I’m not even sure where to start — Dale was just brilliant from start to finish! We love all of our photos; they perfectly capture the mood and vibe of the day.

Dale is wonderfully professional but so personable and accommodating. On the day, we barely noticed him, but he was everywhere, quietly catching all the moments.

Thank you so much, Dale! Being photographed can be daunting, but you’re so talented at capturing the moment, the people, the love. Might get married again just for another round of photos!
