Berlin // Kreuzberg Labour Day Weekend

We’ve been to New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Paris, London, Brighton, Memphis, San Francisco and many more cities. But none like Berlin.
It’s pretty big, but in no way over populated.
The first thing that hits you is how clean everything is, if a little industrial. No gum on the pavements, no litter in the roads. Of course there is graffiti everywhere, but it’s awesome and with purpose.
Our first morning was spent walking up the river spree along the East Side Gallery.
The scenery changed towards Mitte as we headed to the DDR museum. Coffee shops and bars turned into posh restaurants and then the parks.

After an hour or so of walking and a short visit in the DDR to explore Berlin’s confusing and intriguing history, we crashed at Hackescher Markt for drinks and a few hours of chilling in egg chairs before heading back to the Michelberger Hotel.
Probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in too!

On our last full day, we slowly realised it was Labour Day. Where we come from, we have Jack in the Green – but somehow we were unprepared for the music, smoke, polizei and street drinking. It all looked so fun! We ended up in a posh restaurant which had a bar/nightclub outside which was set out like a pirate ship on a beach – right by the river!

Berlin – chilled, pretty, loads to do, loved it.
