Alternative Wedding at Nancarrow Farm: From the Archives

I love looking back at weddings I’ve shot over the years, and this is such a lovely one from the archives. It was for Line and Adam, back in 2018. They chose Nancarrow Farm in Truro, Cornwall, perfect for a realxed, alternative wedding.

The Venue: Nancarrow Farm Alternative Wedding, Truro

Nancarrow Farm is an ideal location for natural wedding photography, and they married in Nancarrow’s Rusty Barn, which they told me that their guests adored, hearing the birds sing louder than ever as they waited for Line and Adam to arrive. Line fell in love with the first wedding dress she saw, by Maggie Sottero, and her ‘something borrowed’ was a veil from her sister. The couple shunned British tradition on the whole however, and borrowed a little Swedish tradition for their ceremony, walking down the aisle together as a symbol of equality.

The Theme: Nordic Knitting

A perfect sunny day, super relaxed, with minimal décor, Line and Adam told me they didn’t want a ‘perfect colour scheme’ wedding, opting for bunting in their favourite autumnal colours, a few knitted cacti and loads of fairy lights. Line runs a Nordic knitting blog, so there had to be a knitted element included! They live in Norway, so were also limited with the decoration that they could bring. They painted leaves the night before as table cards, and ordered buckets of flowers from the florist, so they could create their own bouquets.

The Brief: Relaxed Wedding Photography

When it came to choosing a photographer, Line told me she knew I was right for her wedding before she even met Adam! My relaxed wedding photography fitted perfectly with her style, and we made sure to take a natural approach, using the gorgeous setting of Nancarrow Farm. She told me, “I absolutely love the warm lighting, colours and vibe in your photos, there is something so incredibly special about them. To top it all off, you are just the loveliest human alive, and made us feel completely comfortable on the day. You perfectly captured how happy we both were on the day.”

Although they wanted a non-traditional wedding, Line and Adam still incorporated a few Norwegian traditions, including getting up on their chairs to kiss when guests tapped their glasses, and hiding under the table to kiss when guests stomped their feet! They wanted the day to be totally relaxed and fun, offering advice to future engaged couples, “As long as people have good food, booze and music – they’re dead happy!”
