5 Reasons to Have An Engagement Shoot

You’re engaged and you’re planning your wedding day. Everyone keeps telling you that the most important thing about the day is what is left afterwards – your marriage, of course, and your photographs. But being in front of the camera makes you feel uncomfortable at the best of times. So why on earth would you have an engagement shoot? I’m here to not only give you reasons to have an engagement shoot, but also… why you’ll actually end up enjoying it.

5 Reasons to Have an Engagement Shoot (Especially if you’re camera shy)

It’s a Chance to Meet Your Photographer

An engagement shoot is a great chance for you to meet with your photographer ahead of your wedding day and get to know them a little bit. Of course, the session will be all about the two of you as a couple, but when you have an engagement shoot with me, we will have a chat and get to know one another a little bit more than we already do.

It’s a Chance to Feel Relaxed In Front Of The Camera

Once you know someone you’ll automatically feel more comfortable around them and this will show in your wedding day photographs. Having an engagement shoot when you’re a bit camera shy really helps you relax into it. My couples always say that it was like having another friend hanging out with them on the day. This is because I’ve made the time to get to know them a bit in the run-up. I like to find out about your music taste, your favourite films, what you like about each other as a couple… all the stuff that makes you, you.

Get some Beautiful and Fun Photos Together

When you’ve had an engagement shoot, you’ve then got some beautiful and fun photos of the pair of you for your wedding website, your engagement party invitations, to decorate your venue with, and also – just because! I don’t think anyone got to the end of their life and thought ‘I spent too much time taking photos.’

Spend Some Quality Time Together

Another reason to have an engagement shoot is that it gives you the opportunity to spend some quality time together. Life is so busy, when was the last time you spent an hour just hanging out with no other objectives than focusing on each other?

Document a Place That You Love

An engagement shoot is a perfect opportunity to document a special place that’s special to you. I’m based in St Leonards on Sea, near Brighton. We have plenty of options to use as a backdrop for your shoot. If you like rolling hills, deep dark woods or the sandy beach dunes of Camber… the old town of Hastings, or the Brighton Laines!
